Acer Predator Triton 500 SE Gaming/Creator Laptop

The triton 500sc is a gaming laptop but it tends to go in the opposite direction like it's a clean design. There's nothing crazy going on some of you might argue it's a bit too simple but it is too simple. It is a gaming laptop. this is a metal design or a metal chassis rather and it's a 5.3-pound laptop. It is not the lightest gaming notebook and it is not super heavy.

On the left-hand side has power connectors a 230watt power brick rj45 usb-a type-thunderbolt 4. It does support a 100-watt charging headphone jack and then on the right-hand side has an HDMI port which is 2.1 another thunderbolt 4 port usb and then an sd card slot opening it up can be done with one hand as the base is nice and solid. There's a little bit of wobble on the display but it's still a very stiff hinge not as stiff as a razor blade but stiff enough and the display can be rotated all the way back to 180 degrees the keyboard layout is quite nice the typing experience is okay.

There are some good forces when you press it down in terms of rgb it's four-zone rgb we can change the colors in four zones and can't do per key but it is rgb that rhymed

also has a pretty big touchpad with a fingerprint embedded into the left-hand corner. The laptop does support a mux switch but it's not under the predator sense software which is really weird because in press materials it does show the dedicated gpu is able to turn on and off under advanced settings.

There will be a software update to do it under predator sense but in the meantime all you have to do is head over to the nvidia control panel and then you can do it under. There is just like the acer nitra 5 we cannot switch the mode unless the battery is at 40 or higher. This is regardless of whether it's plugged in or not which is a little weird because most other laptops as long as it's plugged in you can change the mode as for the display it's a 16-inch 16 by 10 qhd plus 240-hertz display with a three millisecond response time. It is a fantastic display, it's the exact same panel that the legion 5i pro is using have no complaints.

It's a bright display it has good color Gamut. It is fantastic for gamers but it's also great for content creators. The webcam is also 1080p not sure if the previous model was 720p but either way, it's a slight upgrade from the previous version of cameras. It is a slight improvement in sound quality that is not the greatest speakers are on the bottom they sound very flat.

There is no depth to them and there's definitely no bass but performance on this is solid this sku is the i9 12900h with 32 gigabytes of ddr5 memory then, of course, has an nvidia rtx 3080 with 105-watt tgp now single core clock speeds were fantastic. We’re definitely on the higher end compared to other i9 and 12900hs but when it came to multi-core speeds it was a little bit lower for this type of power profile if someone bought this to do creative work on the side. It is very solid in adobe premiere pro. It did a good job with photoshop and it is pretty respectable when it came to after-effects compared to the competition but most people are buying this game.

It has a qhd display for any title like overwatch apex legends or any sports title that is going to run beautifully on this just other titles like Elden ring might want to drop it down a bit but overall this thing is a very solid performer as for heat management. It does get hot up to 100 degrees Celsius but it doesn't do it for a very long time maybe a few minutes which is a good thing because you want as much performance as you can suck out of this.

This one's hitting 58 on turbo mode but quite you should never need to use turbo the default and performance profile are good enough and that have lower fan noise now the internal layout has never been my favorite because getting to the ram and nvme ssd is a bit of work. It's on the other side of this motherboard so it's not easy to upgrade those components can be upgraded but it does require a lot more work you do have a soldered-on wi-fi 6e card you have triple fans with copper on the other side of the motherboard to help keep it cooler and you have a big 99watt hour battery the previous model got about 4 hours and 30 minutes. This one is getting closer to 6. There are some battery life improvements and they're now using liquid metal instead of regular thermal paste so which is helping with the temperatures very slightly look at this thing you know it's not the most premium gaming laptop on the market but it does a lot of stuff right? It gives you solid performance battery life is pretty good for a 15-inch gaming laptop you have a beautiful display which is great for gaming but also content creation.

The price is very competitive. It is obviously a very premium laptop that the thing costs four thousand dollars for the exact same specs this is three thousand dollars that's a thousand-dollar difference even something like the asus strix scar costs three hundred

dollars more it has better performance but you still are paying three 300 more. The price’s very reasonable it's not a super deal or anything but compared to the competition they got the price rate and overall they have a product that's fairly improved compared to the previous one.
